The All-Stars is the story of normal teenager Ro meeting her little sister’s favorite band and eventually becoming a member of said band. Of course, teens being teens, high-jinks ensue in the meantime. The book is told in first-person, switching between the POV of Ro, members of the band, and the evil Lindsay. At first, I thought Lindsay was a typical mean girl, but the author nailed the crazy fan aspect in her too, which I enjoyed. Who among us crazy fans have not thought we would marry our favorite musician one day? I was certainly guilty of that. Not that I was every that crazy and creepy.

I saw so much of my past teenage self in this book. This story reads like fan fiction, which is not a criticism. While there are quite a few characters, throughout the story, we get to know each of the band mates and their distinct personalities. It’s easy to grow to like excitable, giggly Chloe, protective big brother Logan, and dreamy but misunderstood heartthrob Dylan.

I enjoyed the flirtation between Ro and Dylan (and other characters, no spoilers) as the story built up, but I do wish Ro joined the band earlier in the book. I would’ve liked to see how her position in the band evolved as they toured. Maybe in the sequel? The last third of the book was my favorite. Having said that, the story did keep me interested the whole time, wondering what was going to happen next and how things were going to resolve themselves.

Do any bands really do the “First Fans” thing? If they don’t, they should. You’ll have to read the book to know what I mean, but I thought it was a cool idea.

Overall, this was a fun read, especially for a teen and pre-teen audience.

The All-Stars was a light read, a pretty good book especially when you're stuck at work bored, in need of distraction.

Sydney's book reminded me of how was it being a teenager, or how it should have been, if we would have had that luck.
The characters were funny, unique, well-built, although having the point of view changed made it a little difficult to follow.
The location seemed a cozy place, where even I would be happy to live - and go to concerts.

Although I'm not a native English speaker, I observed some typos, that are not that big of a problem and it is something that can be corrected afterwards easily, the hardest part of the writing being already done.

The story itself was quite predictable, this was my only problem with this book. I was expecting something unpredictable to happen, but it didn't, so after some time I just quit hoping.

All in all, I enjoyed reading it, the feeling as the concerts were described made me somehow excited as well and yes, I would even buy a signed copy! )
I read this book expecting a light read but it exceeded my expectations in being entertaining, exciting and deep. This book follows the story of Ro a high school girl who loves music. She's preparing to graduate and head off to college but when she meets her sisters favorite band she finds she may not want to head down the path she once thought. I relate to the characters struggle to find herself and choose the “correct” path in life while trying to remain true to her own interests. The members of the band were lovable, especially Dylan with his quirky charm and Logan who loves his younger sister more than anything. Chloe was a great character as well, she had such a fun personality and reminds me of my best friend in high school.
I had a hard time deciding how I wanted to rate this. Let me first say I really enjoyed the story and characters. I loved seeing into what being in a band would be like and I really liked that each member of the band has a life outside of the band that you get to learn about. I adored Ro and Dylan! The only real issue I had that made me rate it 3 instead of 4 stars was it felt like pieces of the story were missing since everything went so fast and kind of jumped between parts in the story. But I think this is a fun, quick read that was really enjoyable.
I received this e-book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the story of Ro and how she became the sixth member of The All-Stars, a very famous teen pop-rock band.
It's the first book I read with celebrities as the main characters (besides Ro, but she becomes a celebrity after some time) so I found it really interesting. The plot is simple but pretty original. The writing style is really good for a first novel even though it has some typos (but every book has them, right?). I really enjoyed reading this cute story cause I'm a fan of contemporary young adult novels. The story is told from different points of views. Ro, our main character, starts narrating it in the first person then followed by the band members and some others. At first I didn't like the POVs from Hunter, Lindsay and Sasha (secondary characters). I didn't see the point of it but then I realised why and it made sense. I'm used to reading books with many POVs and I like it cause I always want to know what the other characters are thinking so that wasn't a problem for me.
It has a lot of funny scenes so I found myself laughing and smiling most of the time while reading.
I really liked Ro and the members of the All-Stars, Chloe, Trevor, Dylan, Travis and Logan. I also liked that this wasn't only Ro's story but also the band stories about their personal life. The author did a great job showing how a celebrity's life really is. I felt connected to it since I'm a big music lover. I fell in love with Dylan, he was so cute, funny and friendly (well, all of the All-Stars were). I loved Logan's story about his little sister and how he was so caring with her. I really liked Chloe, she was so charming and funny, I felt kinda connected to her because of her personality and her funny laugh. Trevor, her twin brother, was very responsible of the band since he started it, along with Chloe and Logan, and he's like the frontman. Travis was the funniest; I loved his relationship with Ella, they were so cute together.
The All-Stars is a delighting story full of laughter, a bit of romance and many remarkable characters that contemporary fans, and also any person of any age, will enjoy a lot. I highly recommend this story about friendship, family, music and finding your purpose in life and having fun in the way.
