I can count on one hand the number of authors that I can say, "I'm never disappointed by what they write."  Virginia Kantra’s writing is perfection!

When I start one of her books, I start out racing through the story as if my life depended on getting to the end.  However, as I near the end of the story I start reading slower and slower because I don't want it to end!  Gabe and Jane's story is quite moving, and wonderfully luscious.  I loved every minute of the story, and it was fantastic to visit with the Fletchers and the people of Dare Island. While this book is part of a series (and I hope you’ll start at the beginning because the stories are that good!), it’s a standalone book.

We all want to know that we belong, and for Gabe and Jane, perhaps they needed each other, and to belong more than most.  I simply loved this book.  Each book in the series builds so nicely on the multi-layered and rich confection of books Virginia has created on Dare Island.  As in baking, her writing is measured – you can tell that she’s labored and taken the time to ensure that every word, and every sentence matters.  You will not be disappointed!

Great addition to the Date Island series. Gabe, a down on his luck former Marine buddy of Luke's is on Date Island to get a fresh start. Finding a woman like Jane was never his plan but now he can't live without her or her adorable son.

Virginia Kantra is one of my favorite authors and her Dare Island books are on of my favorite series. Carolina Dreaming is a story of two lovely souls, Jane and Gave, with baggage that find each other on the island and build something wonderful for themselves and Jane's son. Very easy and enjoyable read.
I loved it! Gabe was such a wonderful hero and perfect for Jane and her son Aidan. The author makes not only all the characters come alive but Dare Island too. You could see, hear and smell the place. This was the fifth book in the Dare Island series and each one is totally unique and will stand alone but I can't imagine reading just one. I loved the small glimpses of characters from previous books. Such fun!
I really enjoyed this book just as much as the ones before it. Good story. Great characters. All you could ask for.

My only criticism would be how much more expensive this author's kindle books are.
I've just finished this latest entry in the Carolina series. Having read the whole series in order this was a wonderful read from start to finish. A tender love story about two wounded people meeting and healing each other. I highly recommend this book and hope there are more to follow. The Dare island setting is peopled with many unforgettable secondary characters. All in all.......very satisfying.
I loved this second chance romance. The Dare Island series has been fabulous but this one really touched my heart. Virginia Kantra just gets it right! She took two broken people and gave them a reason to heal and hope for a future together. Overcoming their pasts, the obligations and other's expectations, this couple finds their strength and courage to risk it all. I hated for the story to end it was just so good! I hope Virginia continues with this series, I know of at least three whose stories I want to read.
A feel good story of second chances, small town friendship and the definition of strength.
Jane Clark, who appeared is several previous novels, is the focus here, along with Gabe Murphy, who served in Luke Fletcher's Marine unit. Gabe is deeply troubled by his upbringing and combat experiences. Jane, a single mom, has her own issues with growing up and with her abusive "ex". Jane and Gabe find that caring for each other provides strength to confront their demons and emerge better people and partners. Perhaps my second favorite novel of the series.
